Transforming a 4-star superior hotel with Thalasso SPA into an internationally renowned wellness destination. This was the challenge taken up by Studio Apostoli with the redevelopment and repositioning of Capovaticano Resort Thalasso Spa MGallery (affiliated with the Accor group). The seaside resort in Capo Vaticano, just a few kilometers from the renowned tourist town of Tropea in Calabria, has 123 rooms plus a 2,500-square-meter spa, an outdoor swimming pool, and 46,000-square-meter of private parking on the beach. A unique setting immersed in untouched nature lapped by a crystal clear sea and on the horizon the dominant presence of Stromboli, the volcanic island of the Aeolian archipelago. The entire resort was redesigned from a functional and distributive point of view. At the center of the structure’s main body with its sinuous shape, sits a monumental foyer that houses the entrance, the reception, the internal bar, the boutique, and a lounge area. It is characterized by a large central hole, a crater mirroring that of Stromboli from which filters the natural light inside. Up until now, the area has been minimal and essential. It has been completely redesigned to create a continuity between the outside and inside.
