The new Thermal Park of Civitavecchia, spanning approximately 26,000 square metres, has two primary objectives: to conserve and revitalise the Taurine Baths dating back to the 1st century BC, which border the northern edge of the site; and to establish a distinctive wellness destination through the development of a dedicated complex.
A tribute to the classical era, the project explores four overarching themes, each representing a distinct facet of the design narrative. The Mediterranean Sea section includes the Casale dei Bagni, thermal pools and basins maintained at 32°C, and an extensive entertainment zone featuring fountains and atmospheric evening lighting.
The Eastern Provinces comprise pools of varying temperatures – such as hypersaline and relaxation pools – alongside lounge areas and hammams. The Great North features a Kneipp path, panoramic Finnish sauna, and cold (16°C) and hot (40°C) tubs. Lastly, Imperial Rome showcases pools – including non-thermal water – enhanced by multi-level waterfalls and complemented by a lounge bar.
The 14 pools, covering a total surface area of 1,440 square metres, follow the natural slope of the terrain to remain concealed from neighbouring surroundings, thereby preserving the unspoiled character of the landscape.
