Studio Apostoli for Neró Clinic – Wellness Revolution: The Medical Expansion at Terme Preistoriche Resort & SPA
Studio Apostoli unveils its latest contribution to the evolution of wellness hospitality with a sophisticated expansion project that aligns with the sector’s shifting expectations.
Six years after the debut of Neró Spa New Experience – a pioneering wellness centre where art, wellbeing, and regional culture converge – and two years following the launch of Preistoriche Green Lodge, a collection of zero-emission suites immersed in nature, Studio Apostoli returns to Terme Preistoriche Resort & SPA with Neró Clinic – Wellness Revolution. This new chapter in the resort’s growth enhances its hospitality offering in Montegrotto Terme, at the heart of the Euganean Hills.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, the expanded medical facility will cover 550 square metres across two levels, offering a comprehensive range of therapeutic, rehabilitative, and physiotherapy treatments. Entirely designed by Studio Apostoli, the space draws inspiration from the resort’s historic Art Nouveau architecture and will broaden its appeal to a more diverse clientele seeking medical and health-focused services.
“The wellness sector is constantly evolving, and offerings must adapt – not only to meet the unique needs of guests and each facility’s goals, but also to reflect the identity of the surrounding territory,” explains Alberto Apostoli, architect and designer leading the studio.
“The presence of hyperthermal waters from the Euganean thermal springs and the use of Mature Natural Mud – a product patented by the European Patent Office for its anti-inflammatory properties – represent a unique strength for Terme Preistoriche Resort & SPA. These natural assets served as a powerful starting point for our conceptual approach.”
Distinguished by a refined material palette, Neró Clinic – Wellness Revolution presents a cocooning and serene environment. Desaturated neutrals and warm, indirect lighting create a calming mood. Dark wood panelling with vertical fluting alternates with wallpaper featuring natural motifs, accented by etched metal trims in dialogue with bespoke furnishings. The space is completed by custom-designed, organically inspired elements – such as the reception desk and waiting room seating – which echo the circular decorative lighting.
The individual treatment rooms offer minimalist interiors, featuring metal and glass partitions with private access to the surrounding parkland. Surfaces are finished in large-format decorative porcelain stoneware, while textural-effect wallpaper alternates with solid colour fields. Bold geometric themes are echoed in the ceiling panels, furnishings, and technical equipment.
“This facility is the result of complementary layers, with harmonious additions over time,” notes Alberto Apostoli. “It is now defined by a new piece, shaped by the latest wellness technologies. Through this, we’ve expressed our design vision for Terme Preistoriche Resort & SPA – a place we know well. It’s a place of wellbeing not only through its services and offerings, but also in the way it integrates into the surrounding morphology with care and respect.”

As part of its ongoing collaboration with the resort, Studio Apostoli has also completed a full redesign of the property’s 47 guest rooms, as well as upgrades to the restaurant and dining spaces, all of which connect directly to the surrounding 50,000-square-metre parkland.
