WellGate

Design: Alberto Apostoli

Designed by Alberto Apostoli for Myrtha Wellness, the wellbeing division of Myrtha Pools – an international market leader and long-standing partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games – WellGate is a versatile, fully customisable wellness system.

Suitable for integration within any hospitality or wellness facility, thanks to the use of components that enable streamlined installation, WellGate has been developed to respond to the evolving requirements of the sector and its stakeholders. This is underpinned by the decades-long expertise of architect Alberto Apostoli – widely recognised for his in-depth knowledge of the wellness and hospitality industries – and by Apostoli Design, a brand within Apostoli Group, the multidisciplinary practice founded by the architect himself.

The collaboration with Myrtha Wellness translates this know-how into an advanced engineered system, incorporating modular high-performance stainless-steel structures that are sustainable, freely adaptable to any aesthetic or technological requirement, and exclusively designed by a brand with over 60 years of experience and active in more than 70 countries worldwide.

WellGate is equipped with integrable wellness technologies and treatments – including sauna, steam bath, frigidarium, calidarium, and more – and reinterprets the concept and functionality of the SPA as a series of complementary modules. These can be compact in scale or tailored to suit existing spatial conditions, optimising both layout and performance.

The system’s primary techno-decorative elements include the vertical fins (lesene), the steam cylinder, the ice fountain, and the handles. Its engineering framework is inherently flexible, enabling adaptation to the evolution of auxiliary technologies and the integration of additional functions over time. The fins can be customised in a range of finishes – such as glass, marble, patterned surfaces, or back-lit LED panels with printed imagery – fully reflecting the system’s guiding principles of maximum compositional freedom and customisation.

The various components that make up WellGate are housed within a structure characterised by integrated lighting and a distinctly essential, minimalist design, developed through a language of repeated horizontal lines. This is exemplified by the interlocking wooden slat system, which defines the sauna environment and can also be integrated with LED lighting; by the luminous rings of the cylindrical steam and ice elements; and by the access details, resolved through a glass wall with coordinated frames and handles in painted metal and polyurethane.

Externally, WellGate can be specified with the addition of the Lama accessory, designed for the open display storage of towels, essences, or guests’ personal items. Crafted in metal, it features a mirrored section or integrated lighting. The benches can be supplied either upholstered or finished in RAL colours, allowing further customisation in line with the overall design concept.

“I wanted to design a chameleonic product, capable of responding to any technical and functional requirement, while also meeting the aesthetic and decorative demands of the wellness sector. The collaboration with Myrtha Wellness made it possible to develop an advanced, high-performance engineering system that is also sustainable, generating a reduced carbon footprint,” comments Alberto Apostoli. He continues: “WellGate is a module inspired by the automotive industry, offering an almost absolute level of customisation in terms of finishes and materials, without compromising functionality. The combination of Myrtha Wellness’s technical and manufacturing know-how with the expertise developed through Apostoli Design has enabled the creation of a system capable of fully meeting the demands of the market.”
