Virtu Resort & Residences in Kelowna

VIRTU Resorts and Residences is poised to create life-enhancing wellness and cultural experiences in newly-built resorts and residential destinations around the world — from Canada and Mexico to Croatia. The business is led by Canadian wellness visionary Sandi Lesueur with New York lawyer Joseph Levey, Italian chief architect Alberto Apostoli and Canadian sustainable design expert Charlene Schumacher.

Its first properties are in Kelowna, British Columbia; Tulum, Mexico; and Bračh, Croatia.

“In Mexico and beyond, I have had the opportunity to bring together globally acclaimed experts in place making, health sciences and wellness, sustainable architecture and design, cultural history, culinary arts and hospitality to develop new and vibrant resorts and residences as well as create award winning spas and meeting venues that are good for the people and protect the planet,” says Lesueur. “Having this solid team — including the renowned Alberto Apostoli — lead this global development brand is an honour. We are working to combine unique cultural healing — both on and off the grounds — to make VIRTU experiences unlike any others: luxurious, impactful, culturally important and sustainable.”

For example, with plans to open in 2023, the first VIRTU location in Tulum, Mexico features geological and cultural marvels with sacred importance that date to the time of the Mayan rule. The healing powers of water that define these places see VIRTU Mexico highlighting the healing bodies of water called Cenotes. With Michelin Starred chefs, extraordinary culinary experience will further VIRTU’s master plan. Uncommon is VIRTU’s acceptance of the healing qualities of hemp-derived products which will be incorporated into treatments, services and amenities — a global first in the true, authentic luxury space.

Project planning is now under way in Mexico for this first sustainable resort and progress is prompt. Months in, zoning and land permits are already secured.

“As chief architect for the new VIRTU Resorts & Residences brand, I am excited to announce that we have begun conceptual renderings for our launch project in Tulum, Mexico,”

says Alberto Apostoli.
